I invited Mr. Eatock to know what's going on here...
I agree the first question should be how/why Powerstar was split in two and how John got his Power Sword.
I always thought Mara was responsible for give this half to Blackstar....and Vizir did the same with Overlord.

Don't forget that it's quite possible they never thought up a reason, they might have just come up with the concept of the show without actually going into specifics - so a question about the splitting should be worded in a way like 'was a reason for the Powerstar being split into the Power Sword and the Star Sword ever developed?' or something like that, IMO
Some more questions about the earlier concepts would be good too - like Mara being an old woman

Or klone being a member of an ancient race of elves. Would we get to see others like klone? Perhaps a lady Klone?

Of course I can imagine one dude!!! It's blackstar!!!
Seriously, now, I think the pif gadget and Lug comics took the relationship between Blackstar and Mara way further than the cartoon! I think that was great...
So, guys, what other questions are there to ask?
Of course we should consider the fact that we might not get any answers, simply because Filmation may have never explored the blackstar series in depth!!

Yeah Mara and John get a lot more attention in the French comics- although even there they have an old earth girlfriend to complicate matters - and in the Pif Gadget stories Klone is seen making love eyes at Mara as well

Mr. Eatock answered my question and suggested we should ask to Robert Lamb himself !
He also said Blackstar series has a special attention in #1 and #6 of Cereal:Geek magazines...

Following my comments about Tongo, in the blackstar greek comic translation thread, I'd say that a good question to mr Lamb would be if there were plans to introduce Tongo's character and what would his character be like.

In the commentary on the DVD they mention that Grogan in the Air Whales of Anchar was originally scripted as being a 'Leopard Man' but when it went to air he appeared as a... lumpy oatmeal man instead (and that's a kind description of what he looks like). Maybe this was connected to the origin of Tongo's design and inclusion in the toyline?
It's interesting that for a toyline only character, Tongo recieved a lot of attention in the various comics - he has a prominent role in both the Pif Gadget and El Greco comics, and even the Edition Lugs uses Leopard Men as palace gaurds instead of, well, Palace Gaurds!

Well, I think its better that they indroduced this lame character instead of Tongo, in this episode. I always thought that Tongo had to be given a better script, where he could strike out and give blackstar a hard time.
And yes, he got a lot of attention in the comics, and I think he deserved it! Too bad he never made it in the cartoon...

It seems that the only toy character not to be used in some form of media is Meuton the Wasp Man (and maybe one of the three 'unique' demons, but I know off the top of my head that at least the green one showed up in the background of a Pif Gadget comic).

I take it you mean the mini cyclops with the horned helmet. I saw at least 3 of them in issue 854 along with a yellow demon. I think it was the red one that appeared nowhere.
Meuton was a latecomer in the toyline, which was already starting to fade out at the time, so he got unlucky.
It would be interesting to see him starring in a comic as a powerful and dangerous threat to blackstar.
I don't understand the use of the hand cuffs though. I don't think a monster like that needs hand cuffs. Weird.
