Hi Astronauts, Does anyone know if Blackstar ever wore that small red cape featured by the Gaalob Toy? See below: By the way, from my perspective, only the cartoon is the *CANON*, so I suppose that there's no validity in the cape's existence, because I don't remember that it was ever featured in any episode.

in the first promo shots he wore a fur cape. Wow, that's great! Promo shots from the series? Why don't you issue them on the Chronicles section? Anyway, a fur cape makes more sense to me... since weather on Sagar is supposed to be hostile in both the ways... extremely cold and extremely hot, according to the specific region you're located in. Since Blackstar is half naked... I'm wondering if the fur cape is *CANON*, because John never wore it in the series.

at the time of the promos warlock was also much clearer a horse as well. i believe the main reason for the lack of cape would be to allow for less animation. a tactic filmation is very proud of doing.

Right?

That's a very cool piece of early promo artwork, galaxywarrior! As for the various capes and there canonicity... well, just because they weren't seen in the cartoon doesn't mean they can't be 'reconciled' with the cartoon canon. Maybe somedays he John just liked to accesorise Out of the two, the fur cape/cloak seems the more appropriate, as it has a more functional use than the red, which would seem to serve no other purpose than to be decorative. Although I don't know how much more protection from the elements a fur cape is going to provide considering how little else he's wearing

Coinilius, WELCOME! It's true, the furry cape is very useful, more than the red cloak. Still, I don't think the "accomodation" for the Starsword would be practical in that way. I love that promoshot, however. Thanks, Galaxywarrior!

Right? Nice action figure, however. I absolutely love it. Blackstar looks more Caucasian (read = WHITE) and family-friendly. Gone is the mystery and the "kick-a**" element. Well, wait a moment, it's just a toy figure The Balkar one is very accurate in its depiction. I'm actually surprised!

the cape is more of a terry clothe but thats what would be used to be like fur. but the feltish cape they ended up using is much cheaper to buy by the yard. the figure is clearly a masters figure probably he-man himself. but the trobbits were prety much right on from the get go. no real means to modify an existing toy. as none like it existed

Is it just me, or does that prototype toy have a really bug-eyed expression? I wonder why they were so interested in giving the toy a cape, anyway, since like Tiziano mentioned, he was never depicted wearing one on the show... perhaps it was as a measure to help differentiate him from He-Man a little more, appearance wise?

well he had a cape before the show but not in the show and the toy returned the cape which was probably as you said to set him aside from he-man.
