Hi i am from Greece and i am a big fan of BLACKSTAR!! Here the toy line was called "OI KYRIARXOI TOU SYMPANTOS" which translates to MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE just because the company relasing them in Greece wanted to make money off the HE-MAN franchise!! with every figure there was a 16 page comic book!!if you want i can post it here!!!

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm new to the Blackstar collecting community as an adult. But when I was 6 years old I wanted to have He-man figures for Christmas. Instead I received a John Blackstar and a Overlord figure. He looked like He-man but his hair was all black and he had small muscles, but looked cool nevertheless. The Overlord looked also cool but I did not know the figure at all because the Blackstar cartoon never aired in Holland. In my world the Overlord figure never even got a name. What I actually did like was the laser light feature in the chest! So I played with the figures a lot until my birthday in April when I received the real MOTU action figures. I would have loved to ask santa why he gave me Blackstar instead of He-man but unfortunately Santa Claus was not around A year later when I was told by my father that Santa was not real I must have asked him why I did not get He-man until April. My father actually thought Blackstar WAS He-man. And he was priced a lot cheaper than the Mattel figures! So my dad thought a WIN-WIN situation. My boy gets two He-man figures and I keep a lot more money in my pocket! Blackstar figures where priced half as much in our toy stores. My dad actually made another mistake! He thought the Star Sword and Power Sword of Blackstar and Overlord where some kind packaging thing. He did not recognize them as swords. So he threw them in the trash with the opened blister cards!! Because I also did not know Blackstar I never realized that they should have swords. I thought they just fought with their fists . Blackstar was a hit in the Netherlands but just for a very short period of time until they where totally eliminated in the toy stores by MOTU. On sale the Blackstar figures only cost 5 guilders (now 2 euro's) so I even gave my brother a Palace Guard for his birthday to go with Blackstar and Overlord although we rarely played with the figures. I found it odd though that Palace Guard did come with a belt, helmet and gun and Blackstar and Overlord came with nothing. I think my father accidentally even overlooked Overlord's cape in the packaging because my figure never had one! When I was 20 years old and going to live on my own with my girlfriend I looked through my old toys on my parents attic to sell some of them to have some extra pocket money. I found Blackstar, Overlord and Palace Guard together with my MOTU toys and decided to do some online research on them because I wanted to know what I would sell. It was then that I first saw the names Overlord, and Palace Guard and noticed that Blackstar even had a firstname: John. I also noticed that they where actually enemies and they both should have had half of the Powerstar as weapons. Could it be not all laser light Overlords came with a cape because I can't imagine my dad would have overlooked the cape. Anyway: my son (5 years old) recently came across my old He-man and Skeletor figures I kept because of sentimental value and asked if he could have some for himself to play with because he totally "digged" them. I went online and bought some MOTU stuff for his birthday. And in my search for some cool MOTU toys I came across a John Blackstar figure. As an adult I noticed that the Blackstar figures are actually very cool! The Glow in the dark weapons and the laser chest are very, very original concepts. It was then I decided to track down as many Blackstar figures as possible and collect them for myself! That's how I recently became a Blackstar collector and found out about this forum! I am an fantasy illustrator and recently made some digital MOTU paintings. My next project will be a Blackstar painting in the same style. I will show them off in the "art" section. I hope you all will welcome me here on this forum because i would love to talk some Blackstar!

Well, you describe a part of your life that was much like mine, in Greece, and now I also collect blackstar figures as an adult again!!
