I love the Masters of the Universe franchise as well, but with MotU I think my favorite version of it will always be the feel of the earlier, Alfredo Alcala mini-comics. I still enjoyed Filmations take, as I've always enjoyed Filmations cartoons, but the darker, mysterious tone of those earlier comics really fired my imagination as a kid!

I agree, it's more sword and sorcery, barbaric fiction!! I always liked the earlier comics too! That's why I acepted the concept of the movie better than other fans, it had some connection to the earlier barbaric world that Alcala introduced! I know that almost every critic named it a flop, but for an 80s kid it was great!

Lol I also really liked the movie as a kid! And still do It's 80's cheese, but I can watch it over and over again - and you're right, it definately connects back to the early barbarian He-Man, although with a more 'Star Wars' flavour

Page Twenty-Four Panel One Caption: Why this journey of a thousand dangers?... Let us follow him above the Ocean of Molten Sulphur... Panel Two Caption: Keep following him through the maze of the Volcanic Canyons of the Rumbling Territory... Panel Three Caption: ...And beyond the Great Salt Desert... Panel Four Caption: ...To the noxious shores of the Dead Lagoon, where once... Panel Five Caption: ...its banks were enchanting and verdant, flowing with Bee-Bird honey and Hippogriff milk and where stood Antika, the City of the Ancient Ones... Gossamer: Klone!!! Caption: Tonight, like every night for the past two centuries, the sun of Sagar sets on the ruins, eaten by creepers and haunted by hordes of bloodthirsty Vampirix! NOTES: * A travelouge of beautiful Sagar... all Sulphur Oceans and Volcanic Canyons * The City of the Ancient Ones... or, a City of the Ancient Ones since this one is called Antika rather than Tamboryon.

Twenty-Five
Panel One Gossamer: Klone! Klone the Changer! Ooheeeee!
Panel Two Gossamer (thinking): Brrrr... Who would think of living in a place as sinister as this? Gossamer: Klone the Changer!
Panel Three Gossamer: Klone! It’s me, Gossamer!!!
Panel Four Gossamer: Klo... oups!
Panel Five Gossamer: Aaaaaah! I’ve been caught by a Living Vine! Gossamer: They say that no one can get free of it! I’ll end up abandoned in the ruins of Antika!
Panel Six Gossamer: Aaarrrh! Horror! A... A Vampirix! Gossamer: It... It will eat me alive!
NOTES:
* So Klone is living in the ruins of Antika - that is somewhat consistent with the idea of him having his own 'castle' in the Pif Gadget comics.
* I forgot to mention it in the notes from the last page, but they mentioned Hipogriffs again... the Pif Gadget comic described Breelorand as a Hippogrif as well.

Klone has a kingdom of his own. I like the idea. But he lives there alone!! Maybe he's the last of his elf race...
It's a pitty that they didn't introduce more characters of Klone's race... I mean they could do that, since they introduced the race of the leopard men.
I really enjoyed the edition lug comic, it is as unique as the greek comic, and explores blackstar's world in a way that we'd never get to see in the cartoon..
Oh, and again great job you did there with the translation!

Panel One Caption: But instead of pouncing on its prey, the Vampirix breaks the vine with a bite...
Gossamer: Beeuuuh!?
Panel Two Caption: And with a jovial laugh, the carnivore transforms in front of the startled big-eared Trobbit!
Gossamer: Klone the Changer!
Klone: Ah! Ah! Trobbits! Without your King Balkar, you are nothing but cowards!
Panel Three Gossamer: Cretin! To come to Antika alone, that takes a great deal of bravery!
Klone: Ah! Ah! Ah! Forgive me, Gossamer! It was a joke! But why this perilous journey?
Panel Four Caption: And so Gossamer tells the young shape shifter of the Blackstar’s quest...
Klone: By the Ancient Ones! Mara is a prisoner of the Overlord?
Gossamer: And our friend Blackstar is to make the exchange at the time of the two full moons tonight!
Panel Five Klone: Madness! They will both end up in the bottomless pit... That damned Overlord is without mercy!
Panel Six Gossamer: Once in possession of the two gems, his power will extend over the whole universe!
Klone: Time to change into an Aquilon, and fly to the rescue of our prince!
Panel Seven Klone: Direction... the Ice Castle!
Gossamer: Ouch! Ouch! This is going to heat up my ears!

I always imagined Klone as being 'alone' for some reason, either the last of his race or estranged from them somehow - I like his portrayel as having a home away from the Sagar Tree - the Pif Gadget comic did the same thing, mentioning that he had a 'castle'
Of course, having another member of his race turn up would have been a great idea!

Panel One Caption: Meanwhile, at the Sacred Tree, Blackstar mounts his faithful Warlock and leaves the Trobbit clan...
Blackstar: I know how to deliver our sweet Mara and I will bring back the Black Star!
Rif: Your courage is only matched by your recklessness, o’ noble Blackstar!
Terra: May the Ancient Ones strengthen your arm, young prince!
Poulo: Sniff...
Caption: In his shoulder bag was the Black Star!
Panel Two Rif: With all the respect that I owe to my King...
Burble: We should never have let him go alone... No way!
Terra: We will never see him again... this is goodbye!
Poulo: Sniff...
Carpo: He will end up in the Bottomless Pit!
Balkar: Silence! And open your pointy ears!
Panel Three Balkar: On my order, Gossamer went to warn Klone! And now, Trobbits... Balkar: ...Here are my orders!
Panel Four Balkar (bellowing): To arms!
Panel Five Balkar: Now Carpo load your catapult on the raft! Terras take along fifty Explosive Watermelons! Rif prepare double rations of extract of pepper-pumpkin to use against the cold! Burble lead our ships on turbulent waves of the polar waters! Poulo has the look-out! And I... I will command the whole shebang! Balkar: And make it snappy! Or I will refume the old crone Telekrane!
Rif: What authority! Our King is a great leader!
Poulo: Swwiiitt!
Carpo: Hair on head!
NOTES:
* Rif sure is a suck up in this version!

Ha, ha he sure is! What's with this suck up anyway? Some short of comic relief? I'm not annoyed, but they sure give a lot of attention to it, I mean it's repeated in almost every trobbit appearance in the comic!

Panel One Caption: At the time when the two moons of Sagar begin to rise above the land of ice, Blackstar comes to the Ice Castle...
Blackstar: Warlock! Put down before the drawbridge!
Caption: Stalagmites born of frozen chaos, like arrows piercing the heavens of the eternally gloomy night at the planets pole.
Panel Two Overlord (off panel): Ah! Ah! Ah! The young fool throws himself into my clutches!
Panel Three Blackstar: Wait for me here, faithful dragon... and at the slightest danger, do not hesitate to return without me to the Trobbits!
Panel Four Overlord (off panel): Welcome to my palace, Blackstar!
