Hey guys just wanted to ask you a question, is there some Blackstar art out there in a similar style as Earl Norem's ? You know the guy who drew alot of covers for MOTU Golden Books and Magazines. Any idea?

i dont belive so. it would be cool to see a darker imagery of john but most images fall into the animation like style. some unique but still not gritty.

Yeah, doesn't look like you'll have much luck finding anything even in a similar style

I can see why they used it so many times, it is pretty damn cool. I would've loved seen more art like this for the toys. Like the MOTU box arts. They all showed many great battle secenes that took you this wonderful world of fantasy.
Blackstar could've done the same, since it is extremely similar.
I wonder if Mattel and Galoob ever tried to join forces to mix these two awesome properties.

I wonder if Mattel and Galoob ever tried to join forces to mix these two awesome properties. They were rival properties, so no, they wouldn't have. There wasn't even a crossover episode of the cartoon, and that would've been a LOT easier to do.

Alas, a cross-over episode wouldn't have been able to be done with Galoob having the toy-rights, since Matell wouldn't have wanted that sort of cross-promotion.
