I'm watching BraveStarr at the moment and it got me thinking that we never had a thread here for this series, so I thought I might create one and see what other people's thoughts were on Filmation's futuristic lawman - and on other 'Space Cowboys' as it were, since 'Sci-Fi Western' has been the premise of a few other cartoons as well, including The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, even the Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa.
As for BraveStarr, so far I have to say that it is an excellent show - I had a video tape of it when I was a kid and practically all of the toys, so I was still familiar with all of the characters and teh general look of the show, but I found that I had completely forgotten it beyond that surface level. I haven't remembered any of the episodes watching them again, so it has been fun to experience it again without too many expectations, and it has proven to be a very solid show.

Well, I've always said that bravestarr was a quality cartoon with filmation's artists doing an excellent job and in many cases overcoming themselves. But... space cowboys was never my thing. What can I say? I'm all about magic swords and dragons...

I always preferred the barbarians and sword and sorcery (and science) as well, but I also really enjoyed Filmation's Lone Ranger when I watched it recently - so much so that I would say that it is one of my favourite Filmation cartoons - and it's great to see a lot of the same flavour in BraveStarr, but punched up with some sci-fi trappings.
