For me Earl Norem is my favourite.I'm sure that it's a matter of time to have here the original artwork and the name of the illustrator.

The guy's named David Mattingly. A great artist! He worked for galoob back then and created the boxart. Here he is www.davidmattingly.com/Pages/Davidbio.htmlBy the way, I love Earl Norem too! His work on Conan... fantastic! But I really liked what he did for the he-man franchise, especially for the movie poster! Awesome!

I mean, are you sure David Mattingly was the artist behind all those Blackstar box illustrations ? I didn't found anything related him and Blackstar (except he worked for Galoob at time)... It's an honor for all MOTU fan to have Norem, Alcala, Obrero, George, Maroto, Forton, McCarthy, Timm and many more, bringing the best of Eternia...truly legends ! Even Boris Vallejo did an amazing painting for 200x comic art cover... No one illustrated Hordak like Earl Norem !!!

I'm positive about the space-ship and the wind machine boxart! He is the one!
I really can't say about the card art. But, I think it's the same artist all right, and the fact that he has worked for galoob is definitely a clue.
Check out the wind machine box down on the left, it says Mattingly 83. if you have a high resolution image you'll see it.

Hey, always a pleasure to talk to you too, man!
I'm thinking of starting a motu thread at the futuristic barbarians section. I'm a die hard motu fan too, and we got a lot to discuss!
