Hi Stars, Don't get me wrong, I love the episode 'Spacewrecked': www.geocities.com/granamyr/spacewrecked.htmlBut I had always been disappointed by the fact that Blackstar wasn't so "lost" on Sagar after all, according to the 'Spacewrecked' storyline. I like having him totally stranded on an alien world, with no factual chance to come back home... it seems far more dramatic to me! The character of Katana was interesting. Anyway, I don't like the idea that someone could rescue Blackstar in the future to come. He belongs to Sagar, he's indeed the greatest hero the planet ever had. Sure as hell, I think that Blackstar's ship was an ordinary one, in contrast to Katana's capsule, which was basically a ship apt to undergo interdimensional journeys of some sort, even inside black holes. That would explain why Blackstar had almost lost his life when collapsing on Sagar, while Katana's arrival was soft. Then, Katana ran a "fusion-drive" Timeship (FUSION = NUCLEAR), and she was essentially detecting Blackstar's photonic traces in the black hole, that's why she managed to find him. A black hole is one very complex system, you can only trespass the "grey" zones, and each zone brings to a different universe. I think the photonic traces dissipated after some years, thus NASA (or whatever organization is behind Katana's mission in space) has no real chance to rescue Blackstar once and for all. What do you think about it? P.s.: by the way, we can assume that Blackstar learnt the Sagarese language during his first year on Sagar... but how did they "understand" Katana, who was obviously speaking English all the time? Maybe Overlord casted a spell in order to understand it (magic translation), while the Trobbits had been previously teached English by Blackstar himself.

NEW CONSIDERATIONS:
'SPACEWRECKED' may be placed in the series as second episode. That's why Blackstar is still not-so-much attached and/or accustomed to Sagar, Mara and the companion. Above all, that's why the photonic particles hadn't dissipated yet!
The particles, indeed, dissipated after some years, thus rendering impossible any rescue. I suppose that 'SPACEWRECKED' occurs in John's first year of Sagarese permanence...
In my mind, the whole series depicts a 5/6/7 years timespan...
The quote "his destiny" in the intro implies that Blackstar is doomed to stay on Sagar forever.
Now, three questions for my fellows:
1- What are the most poignant moments in the episodes 7-13, where Blackstar shows his ever-growing "love" towards MARA?
2- Is there some sort of redemption by Blackstar's side towards Sagar and Mara, in the end of the episode 'Spacewrecked'?
3- If we consider 'Spacewrecked' as a possible second episode, what would be the perfect first episode then?

This is very interesting, for me when Katana found Blackstar she was just lucky. I beleive that Blackstar is indeed trapped forever on Sagar.
Once she left Sagar and decided to go back with backup she couldn't find the way to the planet again, and that will explain why we never saw her again. She lost him forever.
The blackhole dissapeared and with it the route to reach the planet Sagar.
Katana was a very interesting character, she gave the story of Blackstar a very interesting twist. Mara jelous , friends worried he might leave them , that made it a very realistic story.

Maybe the goverment of whatever never really beleived Katana's story. They didn't want to risk lives and money on something they aren't even sure.
Putting alot of lives in risk to save one man, is somethin the goverment would think about. Don't you think?

The blackhole dissapeared and with it the route to reach the planet Sagar. Is this really depicted in the episode? If the black hole truly "disappeared", than it was more a wormhole than a REAL black hole, after much consideration.

Maybe it wasn't a blackhole after all but more of a wormhole like you said. If it was indeed a Blackhole what took them to Sagar how come Katana was able to return huh? If you enter a blackhole you can't escape because, blackholes are such powerful forces that can absorb everything even light itself. Nothing can come out of a Blackhole much less a spaceship. I am sure it was more like a wormhole or a rift in space and time.

If the show had continued, I wouldn't have been suprised to see some kind of follow up to the Katana storyline, even if it was just a return of Katana herself and not an all out rescue mission involving the entire fleet as she wanted.

Mike,
Unfortunately, the photon track should dissipate soon, because it was contained by a wormhole, not a "proper" Black Hole, as pointed out by the article I posted one reply ago. So, photons in an anomaly tend to dissipate time by time, not to be "stored" like in "ordinary" black holes.
I'm just wondering about the end sequences of the episode, what it depicted frame by frame, so I'm asking you (Mike) to report Katana's final speech when she escaped from the Black Hole. Can you also describe her travel back to our universe? From Sagar 'til the black hole and then back in our universe? Tell us more, man!
I'm also wondering... is there some sort of "redemption" attempt with the jealous Mara, by Blackstar's side?

I was wondering if a season two had been produced, would Katana have become a regular character on the show? This could've been a very cool move.
I think Mara was reliefed that Katana left the planet. I don't think Blackstar tried to apologize or explain anything to Mara. It's obvious that Mara has strong feelings for Blackstar but they are not dating ot anything so why would he try a redemption attemp on her. As far as he is concerened he didn't do anything wrong when Katana arrived on Sagar.

This relationship between Blackstar and Mara is weird but I kinda like it that way. It's as if both of them aren't sure that they share the same feeling towards one another.

I interpret this like an interbreed issue; they can "sense" to belong each to a breed very different from the other's one, but somewhat love is far more powerful than such ludicrous affairs. I like the way the authors suggested the feeling between the two throughout the series, without slamming it on the face of the viewers. I strongly agree with you about Mara, she was satisfied that Katana left Sagar (for good... who does really know?), and yes, Blackstar did no wrong, so basically he was still "clean" to Mara's eyes. The door was open for a solid relationship, yet.

The breed angle is something I've always considered when it come to these two. You make a very good point here. I am sure Blackstar will end up with Mara. That's the way it's gotta be or should I say meant to be? LOL

That's the way it's gotta be or should I say meant to be? LOL I think Mara is a passionate woman, such in tune with the most unknown and natural forces of Sagar, so I guess for her it's pretty spontaneous "to abandon herself" in the arms of a man she feels inside her heart and soul.
Blackstar is cold, "calculated" and "detached" as person, for the most of the time. It will took a lot before he would re-consider the option to "abandon himself" as viable. I think Mara deduced that from the beginning, because she's really sensitive.

Blackstar's cold feelings could also be a selfprotective machanism he is using in order to not attach to Sagar. Maybe deep in his mind he thinks this moment in his life would only be for a time and not for life, that in anytime someone can come for him ( Like in the case of Katana) and take him away from this people. So he tries to avoid feelings that would attach him too much to this place like a relationship with Mara for example, even though he knows deep in his soul that he loves the planet too much and he also knows that he is too important for everyone.
Mara is sweet but man she sure can kick some a**. I was rewatching with my cousin the episode " The Kingdome of Neptule" and she rocks the entire episode. Even my cousin who isn't a fan of the show made a comment on Mara. He told me "Mike that girl should be the main character". LOL I laughed of course, but she is indeed extremely powerful and useful.
I believe Mara could kick Evil Lyn's butt if they ever had a magical fight.
