Just a conjecture, but it seems to me that the recurring word "star" in the names of the two halves and the entire assembled weapon heavily suggests that the Powerstar could have been originated from an alien meteorite of some sort. Maybe, in the ancestral era set millennia before Blackstar would arrive on Sagar, someone (wizards?) found a way to "shape" such an enigmatic alloy into the source of energy commonly known as Powerstar. Of course, since the parallel universe where Sagar is set is supposed to contain hundreds, if not millions, if not billions of worlds (like our universe does), the Powerstar could have been "built" on another planet, then moved to Sagar for unknown reasons. Finally, could we theorize that the meteorite was coming from a THIRD universe...? After all, when Overlord's spell fell on Sagar, the two halves weren't affected. Thus, both the Starsword and the Powersword don't tap into the parallel plane where Sagar's magic is stored. Fascinating. --------------------------------------------------> I must add that the Powerstar could have been slightly inspired by the fictional sword known as Stormbringer, created by Micheal Moorcock for his popular Elric saga: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StormbringerLikely, the opposition of two magic swords is somewhat reminiscent of the confrontation between the Stormbringer and its equally powerful "twin" blade, the Mournblade.

I guess the main fan theory is that the "Ancient Ones" forged the PowerStar from a meteorite that crashed to Sagar.
Heh, I was big into Michael Moorcock back in highschool. Did you know Stormbringer and Mourneblade were forged out of shards of another sword used to transport the essence of a dragon? Two swords from one... Hmm...

I quite like the idea of the Powerstar being fashioned by the Ancient Ones from a meteorite sometime in the distant past - maybe that was the secret of Tamborion that the Overlord was after? The plans to building himself a new Powerstar... :-P Also, rather than a third universe, it should probably have come from Blackstar's - that could be why John has such am affinity for it. Maybe it created the 'black hole' when it passed between universes - it is more of a wormhole after all.

I agree with everything you said, and I pretty much love your final hint, Coin... because it *IS* a wormhole whose physical appearance/phenomenology reminds of an "ordinary" black hole. Kudos to you!

Ah, if Filmation wouldn't have dumped the "two halved sword concept" from the MOTUverse....

Ah, if Filmation wouldn't have dumped the "two halved sword concept" from the MOTUverse.... LOL! They did good, instead. That made 'Blackstar' unique.
