Just a heads up for everyone here - I have posted scans and a rough english translation for the issue 846 Blackstar story over at the Planet Sagar yahoo group  groups.yahoo.com/group/Planet_Sagar/It's an interesting story that depicts what we only ever saw in the opening of the cartoon - Blackstar crashing to Sagar and being rescued by the Trobbits! But it also plays a little loose with the cartoon canon. You have to be a member to open files and pictures. |

Just an update to let you all know that I have uploaded the scans and translation for another Blackstar story - issue 854's The Fire Storm.
It's a pretty neat little story, featuring Blackstar in an aerial joust with the White Knight and his hordes of flying minions (including Breelorand, of all creatures), as well as some romantic tension between Mara, Blackstar and Klone...

well, last month I purchased a huge lot of Blackstar magazines in French eBay from a private collector. So now I can confirm what Mr. coinilius said: #846(cover), #852, #854, #859(cover), #860, #865(all-page advertise of next numbers - La Conque D'Or), #866(cover and a game inside), #867(La Conque D'Or second part - unfortunately I missed that), #868(third part) and #873. I bought the LUG book too.

Yay you got the Lug book! Any chance of getting scans of that one? And of that all page advertisement for the Golden Conch story in issue 865? In any case, thanks for confirming those issue numbers Monteeg!
Over at the Planet Sagar Yahoo group another member has posted scans of all the Pif Gadget stories - although I have better scans for quite a few of them which I think I will post as well. But she did have scans of a couple of issues that so far I had been unable to track down, which was good.
I'll be continuing to translate them, and if scans turn up for the Edition Lugs one I will cover that one as well (the member who posted all the Pif Gadget scans has a copy of it as well, but doesn't have access to a scanner at the moment).

I'm so happy someone is preserving these comics by scanning them at the best resolution possible.  You should push her to make even better scans of the stories. By the way, I added the link to the Yahoo Group to the News Fader. |

I think she might have obtained scans that someone had already made, actually, rather than the issues themselves. But she does have a physical copy of the Edition Lugs Blackstar book, but she doesn't have access to a working scanner at the moment.

Coinilius, thanks for your words. I will do my best for scan the LUG book but it contains 46 pages !!! But I think the french girl that sold those magazies has a second one. I could ask her if she still has and let you know. What do you think ? Do you know other Pif Gadgets magazines issues with Blackstar stories ? Can you confirm there is only one LUG book edition known ?

Thank you for helping me confirm the issues which contain Blackstar stories  All the research that I have done has only ever turned up the one Edition LUGs Blackstar book - and searches of the French ebay and other similar sites only seem to bring up the one issue as well, so I am pretty sure there is the only one. As for the Pif Gadget stories, so far those are all the issues that I have identified that have Blackstar stories in them, and I'm inclined to believe that they are probably all the issues that there were, as the issues that you obtained match with the extra stories that realdemona posted (over at Planet Sagar) as well as the issues that I have and the issues that I was missing but knew had stories (based on 'next issue' captions etc). |

Coinilius, it was my pleasure to help you and this community. Maybe the Filmation/Pif Gadget contract was signed only for 1985. So, we can see Blackstar stories until #873 and this issue is just a Xmas special. Anyway, are you interesting in purchase a LUG book ? I can check if the seller has a second one...

Yes, I am quite interested in purchasing a copy of the Editions LUG Blackstar book, if the seller does shipping to Australia And given that both the private collector that sold Blackstar related issues of Pif Gadget to you and the person who sold Realdemona the Pif Gadget scans she posted both only have stories that go up to issue 873, it seems pretty likely that those are all the stories that were run. Did the private collector you bought from know if they were all the issues that had Blackstar in them? |

I was watching her LUG book auction when she said her husband had a huge lot of Pif Gadgets from three decades. So I contact her again and she send me the list of all issues he had. I used your above information and get the Blackstar issues. She searched for Blackstar issues and send me all numbers she found. One of them has only and all-page advertise. The last one is a Xmas Special #873.

Thanks for that information - I haven't found any more issues beyond issue number 873, and from my reseach from after that point I haven't found any other issues that seem to contain Blackstar stories, and the book seems to get a new look shortly afterwards, so I think that is probably all the stories there are. Like you said, they probably only had the license for a short time, as the comics seem to be a primer for the series being shown on French TV, as well as a tie in to the action figures - basically during that cash in period when Blackstar was re-released based on the success of MotU.

Hey, Coinilius ! I contact the seller and she said doesn't have anymore. But I suggest you keep your eys in eBay french. Everytime a LUG book pop up. It's a regular book.
