I really don't know why people hate the Trobbits, I don't find them annoying. Everythime I speak with someone about Blackstar they always bash the poor trobbits. Why? Why ? no really why? They help alot and don't screw things up like other companions. So I don't understand why so much Trobbit hate out there.

Okay, I hate people, instead. The Trobbits represented an integral component, if not the pivotal one, of the Blackstar mythology. It's like to read 'The Lord of the Rings' without actually liking the Hobbits. What's the purpose, then? What's the sense? Move away. I think it's in the american chords to disregard the so-called "cute factor", as you americans usually refer to (please, don't take it as a personal offense, I'm just stating a fact). It happened to movies like 'Goonies' or 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome'... I'm wondering why it didn't happen to Disney's 'Snowwhite', in the first place! I don't see anything wrong about the Trobbits; they were pure genius! A fresh, inventive, ground-breaking take to the whole Troll/Dwarf figure with helped to estabilish 'Blackstar' as an highly original series. They were tender, funny and visually fascinating. So what's the point in bashing them? Why is this people into 'Blackstar', to begin with? So Mike, as always you raised a very poignant question... thanks!

Man I am glad I can talk with someone like you man, you have an open mind and we tend to think alike. Love that statement you gave there, there is alot of truth in those words. And thanks dude!

Yeah, I have to agree with Titians comments about the Trobbits - it really comes down to the knee-jerk reaction a lot of people have to things that are 'overly cute', as if it's the worst thing that can possibly be done.

Mike,
Thanks to you, a lot. I think me and you "travel" on the same radio-wave, guy.
Coinilius,
Sad but true.

By the way changing the subject alittle bit which is your favorite Trobbit? No way. Balkar. And not because he's the father figure, or the leader, or the mentor. Or maybe because all that? When I was a little kid, I used to "refurbish" Balkar's image as the embodiment of my "consciousness" in my mind. Like an imaginary friend of some sort, you know. That's why I'm so emotionally attached to the character. Actually, this is the very first time in my life I'm "saying" this to someone.

That's cool!
My favorite Trobbit is Rif, I really don't know why I like this little guy so much. I guess that it is his personality.

I don't hate the Trobbits, but sometimes the writers dumb them down so they become annoying. They should have gotten more development, especially some of the minor ones, like Terra the gardener.

i've only seen one episode of blackstar, but i've seen it several times now and i've studied it to no end. that being, i can now say the first time i watched it, i definitely had that 'default dislike' reaction to the trobbits, but being enthralled with the many other layers of content, they easily slipped by and i've ended up liking them to the point that i'm anxious to 'get to know' each of them. it'll be interesting to see how they develop. Titian: i use the voice of sammy davis jr for my conscious sometimes. i've never given it an appearance though. never thought about that. interesting idea. i think with words when i'm typing and that's my voice because it's how i talk.. but most of the time i don't think with words. ..i guess it's just when i want to inject humor or make a decision.. ..does this bright red bother anyone else's eyes? i think i'm blind.

I think the Trobbits have something to do with the romanticism which permeates the Blackstar series so heavily. I mean, they are vulnerable and fragile creatures, despite all their magic tricks (USELESS against Overlord's power).
So this is the deal, being the Blackstar series a romantic opera, I think they somehow represent the hopeless children of a troubled world, and Blackstar's greatest "human-like" affection.
I still think they are great!

I don't remember someone of my friends back from my childhood hate trobbits.Honestly.
First of all i like that campy element they have and is necessary in the concept.Funny guys when you want that.
Secondly they have living participation as Johns friends. We don't have a mawkish character like snarf (don't take serious what i said now...i like that guy).
I really love Gossamer!!!A person who makes trouble in Kadrays Triton Bull deserves a huge attention!A real man ha ha!Also i like Carpo very much without reason.

I like the Trobbits as well, although they are an element of Blackstar that can be very hard to get the balance right on, I think - 7 characters with distinct personalities and a 'comedic' element to them. And certain Trobbits tend to dominate, like Rif, Balkar, Poulo and Gossamer. Would have loved to have seen Terra get some more attention!

I just wish Burble got to show off some water powers in the series. We got to see Gossamear fly with his ears (air), Rif heat things with his flame hat (fire), Terra tend & commune with plants (living earth) and Carpo build stuff (inert earth) but Burble never got to show off his power. Balkar is balanced in all four elements which is why he's king and can do more magic. Poulo is a child and doesn't seem to have any particular powers yet except for his whistling which is also air.
